Youth Work Apprenticeships

Want to get training and work experience as a Youth Worker specialising in Sexual Health? Interested in earning while you’re learning? Living Well is offering young people free Training and apprenticeships in Youth Work, Sexual Health and Customer Services.

What are Living Well Youth Work Apprenticeships?

Funded by the London Sexual Health Programme, Living Well is working with City Gateway to employ 12-14 Advanced Apprentices equipping young people (16-25) with Youth Work, Sexual Health and Customer Services training. The scheme, which provides applicants with the opportunity to pursue two consecutive apprenticeship frameworks at Level 2 and 3, will launch from October 2011 and is aimed at giving you the qualifications and experience you need to secure sustainable employment. The programme includes one day of in class training and up to three days of on the job experience per week for a minimum of six months.

As part of this new programme Living Well and City Gateway will recruit and support young people to gain nationally recognised professional qualifications in Youth Work and Customer Services while simultaneously providing a comprehensive package of training in sexual health that will enable them to deliver a wide variety of sexual health and relationship education sessions to young people throughout London. Those that complete this programme will learn everything they need to know to be highly effective sexual health facilitators and leave the project as fully qualified youth workers with a nationally recognised qualification.

The aim of this programme is to give young people the chance to become young professionals with the specialised knowledge, skills and confidence they need to deliver effective sexual health and relationship education to their peers, specifically those in further education settings. The overall objective being to produce 12-14 highly skilled, youth work professionals capable to lead, deliver and coordinate sessions in sexual health independent of any additional assistance.
