Living Well (London) and Skyline (Leeds) are excited to announce the first completed update of the Positive Self Management Programme – a comprehensive and engaging training group that supports anyone living with HIV.

The new programme consists of six weekly 2.5 hour sessions and includes a mixture of practical information, support and coping skills for anyone living with HIV. A key aspect of the course is that it’s peer led, meaning that at least one of the facilitators is living with HIV.

The programme is open to anyone living with HIV and covers a range of subjects, including:
• Techniques to deal with problems such as frustration and isolation
• Communicating effectively with friends, family and health professionals
• Decision making
• Nutrition

In addition, a core aim of the programme is to enable participants to plan, achieve and problem solve. The programme has been proven to be highly effective, primarily due to the ways it’s taught. Sessions are highly participative, where mutual support and success build the participants’ confidence, confidence in both their ability to manage their health and improve the quality of their lives.
