Youth Services Coordinator Visits Downing Street

Living Well Youth Services Coordinator and txtm8 Manager, Emily Mailes, attended a Downing Street reception on Wednesday 13 June 2012 for charities that work with children and young people.

.

At the reception, David Cameron spoke about the National Citizen Service (NCS) scheme and announced that Dame Julia Clevedon would be undertaking an independent review on how to broaden it into a decade of service for young people, from age 10 to 20. We also heard from young people who did the NCS scheme last summer.

At the event Emily spoke about the work she and Laura Pham, Living Well Youth Services Coordinator and RITEstart Manager, had done with a group of other young mothers from Kensington & Chelsea to help them achieve their Duke of Edinburgh Gold Awards. All of them took part in a challenging cycling expedition across Holland… taking their young children with them!
